What this guide stores, and how to turn it off.
Privacy policy
This policy covers longshots.pro, run by the longshots.pro editorial desk. It does not cover longshots.app. The quiz describes its own storage, sign-in and processors on its privacy page. We do not receive your game rounds, nickname or email from them.
The short version
Google Analytics 4, Microsoft Clarity and Adsterra ads are loaded on the first page view, without waiting for a click. The cookie banner tells you that and offers Accept and Reject. Choosing Reject switches all three off and is remembered for 180 days; the footer link Cookie settings lets you change that choice at any time. If your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track, we treat that as Reject.
What we collect
| Data | Purpose | Retention | Basis |
|---|---|---|---|
| Request logs the host may keep (IP, user agent, URL, time) | Security and delivery of the pages | Set by the host, not by this page | Legitimate interest in running the site |
| Email you send to [email protected] | Corrections and rights requests | Until the thread is resolved, then deleted | Legitimate interest, or steps you asked for |
| ls_consent in localStorage | Remember Accept or Reject for 180 days | 180 days, or until you clear site data | Your explicit Accept or Reject choice |
| ls_ads_bar_closed in localStorage | Remember that you closed the Adsterra Social Bar | 180 days, or until you clear site data | Your preference, stored after the notice |
Cookies and localStorage
Only an explicit Accept or Reject stores ls_consent; until you choose, the scripts load and the banner remains available. The first-party keys are small JSON records. ls_consent holds choice (granted or denied) and exp, a timestamp 180 days out. ls_ads_bar_closed holds closed: true and the same kind of expiry. Reject is stored the same way as Accept. Neither key is a tracking cookie; both stay on longshots.pro and are not sent to a vendor.
| Vendor | Cookie or key | Lifetime | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|
| Google Analytics 4 | _ga | Vendor default: 2 years; settings can differ | Distinguishes browsers so sessions and returning visits can be counted |
| Google Analytics 4 | _ga_ | Vendor default: 2 years; settings can differ | Keeps session state for this property |
| Microsoft Clarity | _clck | 1 year | Keeps the Clarity user ID and preferences |
| Microsoft Clarity | _clsk | 1 day | Joins the page views in one session recording |
| Microsoft Clarity | CLID, MUID and related Microsoft cookies | See Microsoft cookie policy | Microsoft identifiers used for Clarity and its related services |
| Adsterra | cookies and localStorage on the ad domains | Set by Adsterra | Frequency capping, fraud checks and ad delivery on bicea.org and its creative hosts |
Google Analytics 4 sets _ga and _ga_<container-id> on longshots.pro through www.googletagmanager.com, and reports to *.google-analytics.com. GA4 retention follows the property settings; we have not confirmed a property-specific retention period and do not publish one here. Microsoft Clarity loads from www.clarity.ms and reports to *.clarity.ms. Clarity retention follows its current service and project settings; a site-specific duration has not been confirmed. Adsterra is loaded from bicea.org and its creative hosts; the cookies and identifiers it writes on those domains are controlled by Adsterra, not by this guide. Our host may also keep standard access logs for security.
The implementation loads analytics, session recording and advertising by default and lets you stop them using Reject; it does not wait for an affirmative Accept. An explicit Accept or Reject is remembered for 180 days, after which the banner asks again. Security logs support site delivery, and email is used to answer the request you send.
Third parties
Google Analytics 4 is provided by Google LLC (Google Ireland Limited for the EEA and UK). It receives the page URL, referrer, approximate location derived from IP, device and browser details, and interaction events. Google privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy.
Microsoft Clarity is provided by Microsoft Corporation. It receives page views, clicks, scroll and pointer movement, and session-replay data. Clarity masks sensitive content by default. Microsoft privacy statement: privacy.microsoft.com/privacystatement.
Adsterra is an advertising network that fills the Native Banner and the fixed Social Bar on this site. Its script and creative hosts can read and write cookies and localStorage on their own domains, and receive the page URL, user agent and IP needed to serve and measure an ad. Adsterra privacy policy: adsterra.com/privacy-policy. We do not run Popunder, Banner or Smartlink units on this guide, and adult ads are switched off in the Adsterra panel.
The site loads no external video player. There is no Cloudflare Insights script or additional site analytics in this build. Fonts are files on this site. Links leave to longshots.app, playfootball.games, Wikipedia, Reddit, X, Instagram, Balls.ie and Chrome help pages; those sites have their own policies once you open them.
Advertising choices
You can turn personalised advertising off, or opt out of participating vendors, at Google Ads Settings, aboutads.info, Your Online Choices and Microsoft ad settings. Reject on this site stops the Adsterra, Clarity and GA4 requests from being made at all for 180 days; it does not reach cookies a vendor may already hold on its own domain, which you can clear in your browser.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of an email thread, a correction, or deletion, by writing to [email protected]. You can clear ls_consent and ls_ads_bar_closed yourself in the browser, or use Cookie settings to switch everything back on. If you are in the UK or the EEA you can also complain to the ICO or your local authority. We do not run accounts on this guide, so there is no profile to export.
Children
The guide is written for a general audience. We do not ask for a date of birth and we do not create accounts. The quiz’s own age rule for accounts is on its terms, not here.
